What is TM SIM registration?
TM, short for Touch Mobile, is Globe Telecom’s value brand, launched in 2001. TM SIM registration means linking your mobile number to your real identity. It’s required under the SIM Registration Act, which was signed into law on Oct, 10, 2022.
The goal is to make life harder for scammers. Criminals have used unregistered SIMs anonymously for scams, smishing, and fraud, and registration is meant to stop that.
Since TM runs under Globe, there’s no separate TM portal. TM users register through Globe’s online registration page or the GlobeOne app.
Who needs to register?
Pretty much everyone.
- The law covers locals, foreigners, and companies using SIMs bought in the Philippines, including both physical SIMs and eSIMs.
- Minors’ SIMs must be registered under a parent or legal guardian.
- If you own several SIMs, each one is registered separately under your name.
- If you moved to Globe through number portability, you need to register your prepaid SIM again.
What you need before you start
Have your full name, date of birth, gender, and address ready, plus a valid government-issued photo ID that hasn’t expired. Accepted IDs include:
- Passport
- National ID (PhilSys)
- UMID
- SSS ID
- BIR/TIN ID
- PhilPost Postal ID
- Driver’s license
- PRC ID
A PVC-type ID is the smoothest option. Paper IDs or IDs with printed photos may not be accepted.
You’ll also need your TM SIM inserted in a phone with signal, since the OTP is sent by SMS.
How to register your TM SIM online (step by step)
- Open the portal. Go to Globe’s official SIM registration page, or open the GlobeOne app.
- Enter your TM number. Tap Register and wait for your OTP. The code expires within five minutes.
- Choose your registration type and fill in your personal details.
- Upload your ID and take a selfie. Use good lighting and keep the ID flat and fully in frame.
- Check every detail. Your name, birthday, and address should match your ID exactly.
- Agree to the privacy notice and attestation, then submit. Write down the control number that shows on screen as proof of registration.
Registration is free and zero-rated, so you won’t be charged for data.
How to check if your TM SIM is registered
- Look for a confirmation text after you finish.
- Open the GlobeOne app and look for the registered badge.
- Enter your number on the registration portal to see if it went through.
What happens if you don’t register?
An unregistered new SIM won’t be activated, so you can’t use it for calls, texts, or data. If you already have a new SIM but don’t need it yet, you can wait until the expiry date printed on the packaging.
For older SIMs, the 2023 deadline has passed and unregistered ones were automatically deactivated. A deactivated SIM can’t be repurchased with the same number.
There are penalties for cheating the system, too. Giving false information, using a fake ID, spoofing a registered SIM, or selling a stolen SIM can mean 6 months to 2 years in prison or a fine of up to ₱300,000.
Common TM SIM registration problems and fixes
No OTP. Check that your SIM has signal, then tap “Resend OTP” on the portal.
“Details don’t match your ID.” Re-enter your name and birthday exactly as printed on the ID, and retake the photo in better light.
Says the number is already registered. Contact Globe through its official Facebook Messenger page or visit a Globe store.
Registered, but the SIM still doesn’t work. Use the same channels: Messenger or the nearest Globe store.
Lost your phone. Tell Globe right away. Your lost prepaid SIM will be permanently deactivated, and you’ll get a replacement with the same number.
Changed your details. You need to notify Globe when your registered information changes. Visit the nearest Globe store.
Stay safe: avoid fake registration links
Scammers love SIM registration season. Only use Globe’s official portal or the GlobeOne app. Never pay anyone to register your SIM, never share your OTP with anyone, and don’t tap registration links from random texts or social media posts.
Your data is also protected by law. Section 9 of the Act says registration information must be kept absolutely confidential, and it can only be released with your consent or a court order.

Yes. Tourists need their passport (bio page and visa stamp), proof of address in the Philippines, and a return ticket. A tourist’s registered SIM is valid for 30 days.
Do I still need to register if I’m abroad?
Yes, you still need to register to avoid deactivation, even when you’re overseas.
Can a minor register a TM SIM?
Not in their own name. A parent or legal guardian has to register it.
Using a TNT SIM instead?
